The SIUC women’s basketball has experienced a continuous string of solid recruiting classes in past seasons, which did not change when the program signed three recruits Wednesday.
Coach Cindy Scott announced that Tiffany Green, Leah Holcomb and Kim Holloway have all signed letters of intent to play at SIUC in 1998 to open the fall recruiting period.

Green, a 5-foot-8 guard from Melrose Park, averaged 19.1 points per game to become her conference leader in scoring. Green also was Walther Lutheran High School’s Most Valuable Player two years in a row.
Holcomb, a 6-foot-3 center from Henderson, Tenn., helped her team win a state championship last year. She also was Chester County High School’s MVP last season.
Holloway, a 5-foot-7 guard from Montgomery, Ala., was an all-conference guard last season for Trinity Presbyterian High School. She helped lead her team to the Sweet-16 in Alabama.
Scott said she wanted to add depth at the point guard position when deciding who to recruit for next season.
Our primary needs, we felt, were at the point position, Scott said. With Beth (Hasheider) graduating, we really only have one other point guard in Tiffany Traylor.
Both Kim Holloway and Tiffany Green can play the point guard position for us. Both are athletic and very talented. And Leah Holcomb is tall, lean, lanky with lots of potential.
Scott said she plans on signing one more player sometime next week.
