‘The Visit’ is another terrible Shyamalan movie

“The Visit,” directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring Olivia DeJonge and Ed Oxenbould, is another terrible Shyamalan movie.

Hollywood keeps doing the same thing with Shyamalan films. No matter how bad every movie is, everyone assumes “The Sixth Sense” is around the corner again. It’s not.

As the screenwriter and director, the blame for some of the worst dialogue of 2015 is on Shyamalan. Each awkward, misplaced line steals you away from the film — forcing one to laugh instead of scream.

The entire writing of “The Visit” is uneven. Sometimes the movie wants to be horrific and other times it wants be comedic. While comedy and horror are great partners, a movie can be poisoned when misused.

This film is on the floor, foaming at the mouth poisoned.

It also suffers from major plot holes. Horror films are prone to leaps in logic, but this movie’s leaps are extremely hard to go with.

Giving away all of the holes in “The Visit” would spoil things for the few masochists waiting to see the movie. Simply put, this movie should have ended in the first scene because the logic is that bad.

Oxenbould serves as the one good piece of this pie. While he plays the stereotypical “white rapper,” he gives a redeeming performance and becomes one of the only likeable characters in this movie.

A scene at the end personifies all the good the young actor brings. Tyler, his character, must face a haunting event from his past at the climax. Seeing all Oxenbould brings to this inner battle makes you almost forget the hour and a half this film takes from you.

Someone please take Shyamalan’s directing privileges away.
