Woman allegedly shoots boyfriend after argument

A Carbondale woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm after allegedly shooting her boyfriend in the hip during an argument.

Olivia D. Young, 63, called 911 at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday and told police that Eric T. Perry, 39, of Carbondale had shot himself.

During the investigation of the incident, police determined that Young fired several shots at Perry, one hitting him in the right hip and exiting through the lower abdomen.

Perry was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale where he was treated and released.

Young was taken to Jackson County Jail where she is held in lieu of $25,000, awaiting a preliminary hearing.
