Saluki men’s basketball junior transfer point guard Mike Rodriguez was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week. 

In wins against Kent State and Sam Houston State Rodriguez — who started both games — averaged 34 and a half minutes a game, totaling 24 points, eight assists, four rebounds and three steals. 

Rodriguez currently leads the team with 16 assists. He also has the least amount of turnovers, three, this season. 

Rodriguez is second on the team in scoring with an average of 12 points per game.
