Police found Rex Allen Witt, 39, of 104 N Walnut St., dead in his home shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday. Officers had responded to check on the welfare of the resident.

The death is being investigated as a suicide by the De Soto Police Department, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, and the Jackson County Coroner’s office.
