A lawyer for SIU has been picked as the next U.S. Magistrate Judge sitting in Benton, court officials said Friday.

Reona J. Daly, a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University and then the Southern Illinois University School of Law, has served as the university’s associate general counsel since 2010. Daly handles litigation management and disciplinary issues and represents the school in front some matters, her university biography says.

Daly worked for Sandberg Phoenix & Von Gontard from 2005 to 2010 and for the Illinois Attorney General’s office, in the General Law Bureau, from 2000 to 2004, officials said in a statement announcing her selection.
