Mullins out indefinitely

By Gus Bode

SIU men’s basketball head coach Chris Lowery announced Tuesday senior point guard Bryan Mullins will be out indefinitely because of a stress fracture in his right foot.

Mullins, the defending Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year, missed a pair of games at the end of last season because of a stress fracture in his left leg. The games the Salukis played in the National Invitation Tournament against Oklahoma State and Arizona State were the only games he has missed in his career.

Mullins recently became only the second player in MVC history to dish at least 500 assists and grab 250 steals.

In a press release on the team’s athletics Web site, Lowery said he has not ruled out Mullins’ return.

Mullins played 31 minutes in Saturday’s 60-54 loss against Evansville and scored three points on 1-for-5 shooting.
