SIU men’s golf coach Justin Fetcho announced the signing of Frankie Thomas of Marquette High School in St. Louis on Tuesday.

Thomas, the No. 2-ranked golfer in Missouri, is the first golfer in Fetcho’s upcoming recruiting class. 

“It is a great statement for our program when we can keep some of the best players in the Midwest close to home and make them Salukis,” coach Justin Fetcho said in a Saluki Athletics release. “He’s a true meaning of a student-athlete not only performing well in golf but also being named to the academic honor roll.”

Last season, Thomas was named to the Missouri class 4A all-state team and was a runner up for a state title. 

Thomas is also a two time qualifier for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and also qualified for the 2015 PGA Junior Championship.
