Women’s golf places eighth in Brickyard Collegiate

Saluki women’s golf competed at the Brickyard Collegiate in Macon, Georgia, this week. Southern finished in last place of the eight-team tournament, ending the final round on Tuesday just four strokes behind Tennessee Tech.

Ella Overstreet led the Salukis in the three-round tournament, ending her week at +20 over par. Her performance tied her for 27th place in a field of 47 golfers.

Secilia Ho and Janie Samattiyadeeku each placed in the top-40, with scores of +25 and +30 respectively. Morgan Gindler and Adriana Vinterova rounded out Southern’s five-person team with scores of +48 and +50.

The team will return to southern Illinois to prepare for the Missouri Valley Conference championships, a three-day event beginning on Sunday. The conference championship will be held in Waterloo, Illinois, just an 80-mile drive from Carbondale.
