SIU Softball falls to Missouri State in low-scoring affair

By Cole Daily, Staff Reporter

The Salukis battled the Bears of Missouri State on Wednesday, April 27, where they would lose 1-0. That made the series one game to two for MSU.

This was a grueling battle for SIU, neither team could gain an edge.

Missouri State and Southern Illinois went scoreless through the first three innings. Both teams struggled to even get on base.

The first score of the game would come at the top of the fourth inning, at the hands of MSU. This would be the only score of the game for either team.

Sophomore third baseman Rylie Hamilton and sophomore second baseman Elisabeth Huckleberry were the only two to manage a hit in the game.

On the plus side, junior pitcher Sarah Harness had six strikeouts in the game.

The Dawgs will play their next series on the road against Evansville this weekend. The games will be played at noon. and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, and noon again on Sunday.
