Five Salukis take top spots in Clark Wood Invitational
On day one of the outdoor track and field event, senior thrower Ricky Hurley picked up his third win of the outdoor season in the hammer throw, with a distance of 64.96 meters.
Senior thrower Shaunice O’Neal followed Hurley up on the women’s side of the hammer throw taking first with a distance of 62.11 meters.
Close behind her in second, fellow teammate senior thrower Elisia Lancaster threw for a distance of 60.3 meters.

Junior sprinter Omar Rodgers was the third and final first place finisher on day one of the event, winning the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 53.2 seconds.
Day two of the event saw two more Salukis take home first place finishes with freshman sprinter Willie Johnson coming in at 47.62 seconds to win the 200 meter dash.
Sophomore sprinter and hurdler Kyle Lind was the fifth Saluki of the weekend to finish at the top of the podium winning the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.16 seconds.
Up next for SIU track and field, they’ll travel to the Rock Chalk Invitational hosted by the University of Kansas April 30 through May 1.
This invitational will be the last of the outdoor season before the MVC Championships, May 14 through the 16.
