SIU defeats Vaparaiso, Eastern Illinois in swim meet
Southern Illinois swimming and diving hosted a tri-meet against Little Rock and Valparaiso at Shea Natatorium on March 12, 2021 in Carbondale, Ill.
The Southern Illinois women’s swim team defeated both Eastern Illinois and Valparaiso in an event hosted by SIU on March 27.
SIU defeated Valparaiso 211-50 and EIU 209-53 in the team’s final event before the MVC Championships.
SIU got individual event wins in the 200 freestyle from freshman Fernanda Sanchez. Sanchez also won the 400 individual medley.

Senior Imogen Watson earned the Salukis a victory in the 100 backstroke. Freshman Gaby Jenkins won the 200 backstroke for the Salukis as well.
Overall SIU picked up 13 event wins, including one team relay.
The Salukis will now prepare for the MVC Championships from Wednesday, April 14, through Friday, April 16, at Shea Natatorium.
