The Salukis and the Bulldogs remained scoreless in the first 11 minutes of the half with Drake receiving three fouls from sophomore forward Meghan Brown, sophomore midfielder Delaney Goertzen and junior forward Alison Walls.

Southern took a shot at 16 minutes by sophomore forward Emma Spotak that went out left of the goal, and this was followed by two corner kicks by SIU.

The score stayed at 0-0 near the end of the half, despite a shot and a shot on goal from DuCharme and a shot by Drake’s senior defender Abby Stephenson.

The first half ended with a shot from Spotak that went out right of the goal and a shot on goal from the Bulldogs’ freshman midfielder Sydnee Sagal.

Drake had a chance to take the lead with two shots from Helverson and a shot from Walls, but none seemed to make it into the goal.

The Bulldogs had many opportunities to score with a shot by Goertzen, a shot by Stephenson and a shot on goal by Helverson that was saved by Alaluf, but the score remained 0-0.

Neither team had found a chance to score by the end of the second half, so the game went into overtime with the score 0-0.

Drake led the Salukis in shots at the end of the second half 13-7 and they led in shots on goal 4-2, but SIU led in saves 4-2.

Despite shots from Drake’s freshman midfielder Lily Overstreet and redshirt freshman defender Chloe Jones and a shot on goal from SIU’s senior defender Kathryn Creedon in the first overtime, neither team was able to score and the teams went into a second overtime.

Drake ended the second overtime with shots from Helverson and Bormann, but neither made it into the goal, ending the game with a tie 0-0.

The Salukis will take the field again on March 21 against the University of Northern Iowa at Carbondale with a 1 p.m scheduled kickoff.
