Jackson County reports 37 new COVID cases Wednesday

Jackson County Health Department reported 37 new cases of COVID-19 on Jan. 20, 2021.

The cases included two under 10 years-old, one preteen, seven teens, 10 in their 20s, two in their 30s, two in their 40s, five in their 50s, six in their 60s, and two in their 70s.

As of Jan. 20, there have been 4,276 confirmed cases in Jackson County and 65 deaths, according to the release.

Franklin and Williamson Counties reported 59 cases Jan. 20.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health reported 4,822 confirmed cases on Jan. 20 and 107 additional deaths.

As of Jan. 20, there have been 1,081,354 positive cases in the state of Illinois and 18,398 deaths.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
