Indoor dining resumes as Region 5 enters Tier 1 mitigations

Gov. Pritzker announced today in a release that Region 5 is allowed to enter Tier 1 of COVID-19 mitigations. With the mitigations indoor dining is permitted with 25% capacity. Social gatherings are limited to 25 guests or 25% room capacity.

Jackson County Health Department reported 28 new cases of COVID-19 on Jan. 16, 2021.

As of Jan. 16, 2021, there have been 4,186 confirmed cases in Jackson County and 64 deaths, according to the release, and 22 individuals have been released from isolation today in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Franklin and Williamson Counties reported 44 new cases Jan. 16.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health reported 5,343 confirmed cases on Jan. 16 and 130 additional deaths.

As of Jan. 16, there have been 1,064,667 positive cases in the state of Illinois and 18,179 deaths.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
