Jackson County faces 39 new COVID-19 cases and one death

Jackson County Health Department reported thirty-nine new COVID-19 cases and one death.  The death was a female in her nineties.

As of Jan. 8, there have been 3,934 confirmed cases in Jackson County and 63 deaths, according to the release and 34 individuals have been released from isolation in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Franklin and Williamson Counties reported 133 cases on Friday.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health reported 9,277 confirmed cases on Jan. 8 and 126 additional deaths.

As of Jan. 8, there have been 1,017,322 positive cases in the state of Illinois and 17,395 deaths.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently, and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
