10 new cases of COVID-19 in Jackson County

Jackson County Health Department reported 10 new cases of COVID-19 on Jan. 2, 2021.

The cases included one individual under 10, one in their 30s, one in their 40s, two in their 50s, four in their 60s, one in their 70s. As of Jan. 2, there have been 3,724 confirmed cases in Jackson County and 59 deaths, according to the release, and 3,403 individuals have been released from isolation in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Franklin and Williamson Counties reported 83 new cases on Jan. 2.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health reported 8,009 confirmed cases on Dec. 31 and 133 additional deaths.

As of Jan. 2, there have been 975,352 positive cases in the state of Illinois and 16,674 deaths.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
