Jackson county reports over 50 COVID-19 related deaths since pandemic began

On Saturday, Jackson County Health Department reported the total of 51 deaths caused from COVID-19. The department also reported 51 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

As of Saturday, there have been 3,411 confirmed cases in Jackson County, according to the release, and 2,967 individuals have been released from isolation in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Franklin and Williamson Counties reported 96 new cases on Saturday.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health reported there have been 894,367 positive cases in the state of Illinois and 15,123 deaths.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
