Jackson County Health Department reports 28 new cases of COVID-19

Jackson County Health Department reported 28 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

As of Friday, there are 414 active COVID-19 cases in the county. To date, there have been 3,165 confirmed cases in Jackson County and 45 deaths, according to the release, and 51 individuals have been released from isolation in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Franklin and Williamson Counties reported 87 cases and one death Friday.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health reported 9,420 new confirmed cases on Friday and 190 deaths. There have been 832,951 positive cases in the state and 14,050 deaths.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
