Jackson County reports record 87 new cases of COVID-19, Franklin-Williamson report 110

Jackson County Health Department reported a record 87 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.

As of Thursday, there have been 2,077 confirmed cases in Jackson County and 28 deaths, according to a release from the health department and 1,654 individuals have been released from isolation in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Franklin and Williamson Counties reported 110 new cases and two deaths on Thursday.

As of Thursday, there have been 536,542 positive cases in the state of Illinois and 10,477 deaths.

SIU reported 37 cases for the week, 36 were students and 1 faculty/staff.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
