COVID-19 Update: SIU reports six active cases

By Staff Report, News Desk

SIU has updated its COVID-19 case count found on its website and lists six active cases for this week.

As of Wednesday, the cases include three on-campus cases, two off-campus student cases and one faculty/staff case.

Last Thursday, three active cases were reported on the website. All three cases were off-campus students.

The case count is updated weekly and may not include all cases, as reporting affiliation with SIU is voluntary.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.

If you are experiencing fever, cough, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle aches, loss of taste or smell, nausea or diarrhea, you should contact your healthcare provider for further guidance.
