Joe Gomez, age 55, carries the American flag as he sprints toward the finish line of the Superhero 5K Sept. 25, 2021 in Carbondale, Ill. Gomez finished the race in 33 minutes and 46 seconds as part of team Red, White and Blue. [The team is] an organization started to create positive vibes through physical activity, Gomez said.
