Salukis perform a command Friday during the Southern Social and Saluki Pride Pep Rally at Saluki Stadium. The event gave new students the opportunity to meet SIU faculty and staff and mingle with student groups such as the Marching Salukis, the mascots and several athletic teams.

Undergraduate Student Government President Adrian Miller, a junior from Carbondale, studying political science, dances with students and football players Friday during the Southern Social. During the New Student Convocation, Miller encouraged new students to make the most of their time at SIU. “You are the author of your destination,” he said.
