Missing Murphsyboro girl found safe and unharmed

Update: On Monday Oct. 14 at approximately 3:23 p.m. Abigail turned herself in to the Murphysboro police department and has since been returned to her legal guardians.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s department is investigating the disappearance of 14-year-old Abigail Jones, who was last seen on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Abigail was last seen leaving her Murphysboro residence where she was picked up by a waiting vehicle and was headed to Sonic in Carbondale, according to the release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s department.

Abigail is described, in the release, as being 5-foot-3-inches and weighing approximately 180 lbs. She was last seen wearing black and pink glasses, a grey Elverado sweatshirt, a blue, white, and orange capri-style leggings and dark colored reebok tennis shoes.

Abigail was picked up by a male named “Miguel” who is possibly from Jonesboro.

Anyone with information about Abigail’s disappearance is asked to call the Jackson County Sheriff’s department at 618-684-2177.
