Carterville neighborhood power down after pick-up truck hits utility pole

A man is taken by stretcher to an awaiting ambulance after the truck he was driving hit a utility pole knocking the pole down cutting power two the 400th block of Greenbriar road in Carterville on Tuesday, 20, 2019. The accident was called in at around 10:20 according to Carterville Patrol Officer Jacob Pendley.

Power is down on the 400 block of South Greenbriar road in Carterville after a pick-up truck hit a utility pole knocking wires on top of the turned-over vehicle.

The crash was called-in around 10:20 p.m. according to Carterville Patrol Officer Jacob Pendley.

The person driving the car was taken from the scene in an ambulance.

Pendley said that the investigation regarding the crash is currently open.

Police were unable to remove the person inside the vehicle until Ameren had completely shut off power to the lines on the vehicle.

Carterville and Crainville police departments and Carterville Fire Department responded to the scene of the accident. As of 11:54 power was still out in the Greenbriar neighborhood.
