Rainbow Cafe to host forum on LGBTQ+ issues with Carbondale mayoral candidates

By Jacob Lorenz, Staff Reporter

The Rainbow Cafe will be hosting a meet and greet and open forum for Carbondale’s mayoral candidates on March 28 at 7:00 p.m.

The meet and greet will take place at the Center for Empowerment and Justice at 213 N Washington St.

The forum will focus on issues specific to the southern Illinois LGBTQ+ community. Candidates will receive equal time to respond to questions and open discussion.

Both candidates, incumbent Mike Henry and community organizer Nathan Colombo, have confirmed availability, according to Tara Bell Janowick, board chair of the Rainbow Cafe.

The event is sponsored by Unconditional, a support group for parents and families of the LGBTQ+ community in Southern Illinois.
