Shulman’s area of specialization is Ukraine. He has visited Ukraine 18 times for research purposes, teaching and consulting, including teaching as a Fulbright Scholar at Tavrida National University in Simferopol, the capital of Crimea.

The crisis in Ukraine has worsened over the past month when Russia annexed the territory. Ukraine still claims Crimea as part of its territory.

The U.S. placed sanctions against more than 20 Russian officials in response. Russia responded by placing sanctions on 10 U.S. leaders including Speaker of the House John Boehner and Sen. John McCain.

Anyone wishing to attend Pizza and Politics should RSVP by noon Monday to 618-453-4009 or [email protected].
