It was not until the fourth inning that the first run of the game to come across when freshman center fielder Jenny Jansen scored sophomore right fielder Susie Baranski on a single.

SEMO responded in the top of the fifth, scoring on a two-out solo home run to tie the game at 1-1.

After a couple of errors that put a runner in scoring position, junior Brianna Jones was sent to relieve Dover, getting out of the inning unharmed.

Jones continued to pitch the rest of the game, throwing 4.1 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win. She allowed two hits and threw six strikeouts.

It wasn’t until the bottom of the ninth for Southern to generate enough offense for the win, as sophomore catcher Katelyn Massa got the bats rolling with a one-out single.

Following multiple passed balls, SEMO intentionally loaded the bases in hopes of a double play.

However, senior third baseman Sydney Jones was up to bat and hit the walk-off single to score Massa.
