Actor, singer and songwriter O’Shea Jackson Sr., also known as “Ice Cube,”  is slated to perform at SIU Arena at 8 p.m. on April 28, according to a university press release.

The concert kick-starts SIU’s new arts and entertainments program ‘SIU Presents,’ according to the press release.

“We want people to think of SIU as the place to go not only for a tremendous education but also as a place where they have positive experiences and make lasting memories,” Chancellor Carlo Montemagno said in the release. “We’re also confident these efforts will benefit the city of Carbondale and the region through tourism revenue.”

Ice Cube is one of the founding artists of ‘gangsta rap’ and has sold millions of records worldwide. He is also known for his roles in ’21 Jump Street,’ ‘Ride Along’, and ‘Straight Outta Compton.’
