Four members of the SIU women’s basketball team were named to All-MVC teams in a league announcement on Wednesday.

Senior Guard Kylie Giebelhausen was named All-MVC First Team as well as All-Defensive Team.

The senior is the fifth Saluki in program history to repeat All-Conference First Team in consecutive years and currently ranks top ten in the nation in steals per game and blocks per game with 1.1 and 1.4, respectively.

Sophomore forward Nicole Martin was also named All-MVC First Team and became the first player in program history to earn All-Freshman Team and follow up with an All-Conference honor in the next season.

In addition, freshman forward Abby Brockmeyer and freshman guard Makenzie Silvey were named to the All-Freshman Team, the first time SIU had two freshmen claim the honor in the same season.

The Saluki women will be back in action on Friday when they take on the Indiana State Sycamores in the first round of the MVC Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
