Carbondale police arrest suspect in stabbing

Carbondale police said Monday they have charged a suspect with aggravated battery and attempted murder following a stabbing that occurred Sunday morning about two miles from campus.

Police said they have arrested 36-year-old Nathan D. Bowles of Carbondale, who is an acquaintance of the victim.

Bowles was charged with aggravated battery and attempted murder and is being held in Jackson County Jail, police said.

Police said Bowles stabbed the victim, whom they did not identify, following a dispute in the 400 block of East Sycamore Street.

The victim remains in the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale and is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
