Coach Nick Hill and the Saluki football team are bringing in the new season with a fresh look.

SIU’s black helmets of the past will be replaced with maroon helmets that have the SIU script logo on the right side and player number on the left side.

The new helmet is the first uniform change since previous coach Dale Lennon introduced the former black helmets four years ago.

SIU is heading into a new era under Hill, hoping to shake off a 3-8 season last year, its worst since 2001.
