Halo breaks sales records

“Halo 5: Guardians” is the fastest-selling Xbox One exclusive and had the biggest launch in the popular shooter game’s history, according to Microsoft.

Developed by 343 Industries and released on Oct. 27, the game has already made more than $400 million in worldwide game and hardware sales. The lifetime earnings of the franchise is now more than $5 billion.

Furthermore, gamers have spent more than 21 million hours playing “Halo 5: Guardians.”

“The success of Halo 5: Guardians is a testament to the innovative work from the entire team at 343 Industries to bring this installment to Xbox One and the incredible community of fans who have come to love the story, characters and gameplay central to the franchise,” Head of Xbox Phil Spencer said. “The game represents all the possibilities of Xbox One and has earned its place as the anchor title in the greatest holiday games lineup in Xbox history.”

This game is great and has the most varied gameplay of the first-person shooter genre.

Halo is one of the finest first-person shooter games, and it is fantastic see the series succeed.

Konami working on another Metal Gear

The Metal Gear Solid series might not be changing as we know it afterall. After shipping 5 million copies of the fantastic “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain,” Konami is seemingly planning on making a proper sequel to the stealth action franchise.

According to Kotaku, the publisher is outlining the next entry in the series and has confirmed the game will not be a small mobile game.

“When we start development, a large-scale investment will become necessary,” Konami said.

There is no news yet if series creator Hideo Kojima will participate in its development, despite rumors there is drama between him and his employer and he is leaving the company.

This should not come as a big surprise since “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” was an incredible game and sold well. Because of the controversy between Kojima and Konami and the latter’s focus shifting toward smaller and cheaper games, it was not clear if there would be another true Metal Gear game.

Konami recently closed the entire Konami LA studio, which is odd. Why go through the trouble of hiring a whole new studio when you had a perfectly good one already?

Either way, I’m glad to see the series continue, but without Hideo Kojima directing, I wonder if it will live it up to the series standard. On the contrary, sometimes a series gaining new direction can breathe new life into it. Only time will tell.

Don’t screw this up Konami.

That said, I’ll believe this game exists when I see it.

‘Warcraft’ movie and expansion trailers

At Blizzcon, Blizzard Entertainment’s personal video game conference, the full feature trailer for the upcoming “Warcraft” movie was finally showed to fans.

The movie looks fantastic, though the trailer doesn’t do the best job setting up the story. I am extremely excited to see this movie because it seems as if its is getting the proper treatment, unlike other video game adapted movies.

The cinematic trailer for the upcoming expansion pack “World of Warcraft: Legion” was also revealed at Blizzcon.

As per usual, the trailer is gorgeous and fans finally get to see iconic characters Varian Wrynn and Slyvanas Windrunner in a cinematic trailer art style. I could not be more stoked for the game.
