SIU volleyball senior middle hitter Taylor Pippen was named MVC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in the past three weeks.

In SIU’s two weekend matches against Wichita State and Missouri State, Pippen totaled 10 blocks, one of which was solo. She averaged 1.67 blocks per set. Offensively, she also posted 17 kills and hit for a .455 efficiency in the two matches.

Pippen has a total of 109 blocks this season. She set the SIU all-time record for career block assists and currently has 423. The previous record was 381 held by Chandra Roberson in 2009.

Pippen is the lone senior on the SIU volleyball team this season. She was picked to the first team All-MVC in 2013 and 2014, and to the pre-season All-MVC team this season.

The Salukis play the winner of Missouri State and Loyola at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Springfield, Mo. to start their run at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
