SIU women’s basketball freshman guard/forward Tiajaney Hawkins will use a medical redshirt this season and have surgery on her injured shoulder.

Coach Cindy Stein on Wednesday announced Hawkins would have surgery to repair her right shoulder, which was dislocated in a 61-58 loss to Memphis on Nov. 29.

Hawkins finished the year with 15 points and five rebounds in 34 minutes played in five games.
