Radio-Television students sweep state awards

Radio-television students from SIUC received more awards than any other state school at the Illinois Broadcasters Association Student Convention in Bloomington last week.

Eleven students took home Student Silver Dome Awards, which recognize excellence in various broadcast categories including television and radio news stories, sports coverage and general programming.

“These students spend a lot of time working on projects outside of class,” said Joey Helleny, who attended the conference and serves as a lecturer in the Department of Radio and Television. “A lot of time and effort went into these projects, and it’s nice to see them recognized for their work, to say ‘Hey, you did a good job.'”
