Pozo named MVC men's tennis player of the week

Sophomore Alex Pozo was named the MVC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week Tuesday.

Pozo went undefeated in singles and doubles against Troy last Tuesday, improving to 14-5 in singles and 9-4 in doubles with partner junior Wilder Pimental on the season.

The St. Louis native has won six-straight singles matches and was the only Saluki to win a singles and doubles match during the team’s 4-3 to the Trojans, which broke SIU’s eight-match win streak.

Pozo and the Salukis (8-2) play next at 1 p.m. Thursday at Saint Louis.
