Illinois Governor JB Pritzker appointed Tonnette Williams to the SIU Board of Trustees, according to a press release on March 28.
Williams is an SIU Carbondale alum, earning her bachelor’s before earning two master degrees. She spent 10 years teaching in Chicago before owning and operating early childhood development centers.

She also owns and operates five McDonald’s locations in the Chicago area. She serves on many boards, including Black McDonald’s Operators Association and the National Women Operators Board.
