Inclement weather has delivered the SIU men’s basketball team a shot at redemption.
Due to an extended power outage on their campus caused by a lightning strike Saturday morning, the Murray State Racers will come to Carbondale for the second time this season.

The first matchup ended with the Dawgs losing to their rival 74-64 after Saluki-turned-Racer AJ Ferguson dropped 22 points despite 21 and 20 from Kennard Davis Jr. and Ali Dibba, respectively.
According to SIUSalukis.com, tickets purchased for the game will be honored at the Banterra Center if Murray fans choose to make the trip. Fans without tickets will be able to purchase them for $5 at the door.
All seating will be general admission besides Section 102, and parking will be free on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The last time the Salukis played a team twice at home in a season was in the 2020-21 season during COVID-19 restrictions.
The Salukis are 4-1 against Murray State since the Racers joined the Missouri Valley Conference, though the one loss came under head coach Scott Nagy.
The Dawgs (12-15, 7-9) are coming into the game on a two game losing streak, while Murray State (13-14, 7-9) lost their last game. The winner of the game will have a chance to gain sole possession of sixth place in the MVC with a win.
