Salukis take 2-1 series loss to Redbirds
The Salukis hosted the Illinois State Redbirds for a three game series at Itchy Jones Stadium beginning Friday April 28.
Southern took the lead early in the first game thanks to two RBIs by Pier Olivier Boucher and Steven Loden to give the Dawgs a 2-0 lead.
Catcher Cole Christman helped the Salukis out with a two run triple at the bottom of the third following it up with an RBI in the fifth.

Matt Schark tallied his sixth home run at the Itch and had three RBIs on the day. Two of which pushed the Salukis to their 11-1 run-rule win in game one against the Redbirds.
Southern took a close loss to Illinois State in the second game, losing 5-4.
The Salukis took an early lead in the first inning 3-0 thanks to a single by Ryan Rodriguez sending Boucher and Bennett Eltoft home.
Illinois State tied the game in the seventh and took the win in the ninth with an RBI from Daniel Pacella.
Taking the third game of the series into the 12th inning, Southern was handed a 12-7 loss from the Redbirds.
Loden started the scoring for the Salukis with a two run homer in the third. Illinois State tied the game in the seventh before a solo home run by Boucher put the Dawgs back on top.
Three runs by Illinois State in the 12th sent them home with a series win.

The Salukis will be back in action when they host Southern Indiana at Itchy Jones Stadium Tuesday at 6 p.m.
