Swim and Dive earns wins in half of all events at Indiana State Tri-meet

On Saturday the SIU Swim and Dive team competed in their first meet back since the holiday break. The Men’s team earned the win over Ball State (196-102) while the Women’s team fell to the Sycamores (193-107)  as well as narrowly to Ball State (152-148).

The men earned 11 of the Saluki’s wins in the event, including the 200 butterfly, 100 butterfly, 100 intramural, and the 200 medley relay. Sophomore Jack Khrypunov led with three total wins (200, 100 butterflies and 100 intramural) while freshman Alex Cimera and freshman Ruard van Renen each won two events.

For the women, sophomore Ali Robertson took the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, while freshman Olivia Herron took first in the 200 intramural. Sophomore Karen Rodriguez also took home a win in the 500 free as well.

The Saluki men’s and women’s Swim and Dive teams will be back in action once more this weekend with their first home meet of the new year when they host Little Rock for senior day.
