Men’s; Women’s Swim and Dive teams both take wins in MVC Showcase

The Saluki swim and dive team hosted their first competitive meet of the season starting Friday and extending through Saturday. Both Men’s and Women’s teams took wins over the weekend over Evansville and Missouri State.

The women’s team took the win with a score of 909.5, surpassing second-place Missouri State with a score of 845. The men’s team picked up wins over both Evansville and Missouri State with a 239-100 score and then a 222-128 score.

For the women, some of the top performers included sophomore Karen Rodriguez, who finished with a 4:25.99 time in the 400 Intramural as well as a 5:05.27 time in the 500 freestyle. Sophomore Celia Pulido finished with a 1:51.63 time in the 200 freestyle, a 54.13 time in the 10 back, and a 2:00.16 time in the 200 back. Freshman Audrey Leno showed off her skills in the three and one-meter diving with 233.95 and 213.2 scores respectively.

For the men’s team, freshman Alex Cimera earned first in the 200 freestyle with a 1:40.08 time as well as a 45.91 time in the 100 freestyle. Senior Ian Marshall earned a 4:03.75 time in the 400 Intramural. The 200-yard free relay team earned first consisting of freshman Mykyta Terentiev and Ruard van Renen, sophomore Alex Santiago, and junior Donat Csuvarszki. The team won first with a 1:21.08 overall time.

The Salukis will next compete in the A3 performance invitational, also at Shea Natatorium November 10th – November 12th with another chance to take a home win on the season.
