Cross Country finishes regular season finale at Bradley Pink Classic

On Friday, the Saluki cross country team traveled to Bradley University to compete in the Bradley Pink Classic. Both the Women’s teams and Men’s teams competed. The Men earned a 15th place finish out of 35 teams, and the women finished in 26th place out of 38 teams.

The Men’s team tallied a total of 481 points with a team average time of 24:54.5 in the “Red” race. Sophomore Dawson Smith shined with a 14th-place finish overall and a 23:52.9 time. The rest of the team finished down closer to the 100s. 

Sophomore Uriah Guthrie finished in 95th place with a 24:57.9 time, senior Travis Hart finished in 112th place with a 25:07.3 time, and freshman Weston Jokerst wasn’t far behind in 117th place with a 25:10.5 time.

The Women’s team finished with 695 total points and a 22:35.4 average time in the Women’s “Red” race. Senior Leah Metzger led the way with a 77th-place finish and a 21:53.7 time. Sophomore Stephanie Anthonies came in 126th and a 22:20.1 time. 

Freshman Tabitha Bevan and sophomore Briana Nieset trailed behind in 134th and 174th place respectively. Bevan put up a 22:25.2 time while Nieset finished with a 23:03.4 time. Sophomore Ansley Bailey followed 10 places behind in 184th with a 23:14.7 time.

Both Saluki cross country teams will next compete at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on October 28, hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Indiana.
