SIU Cross Country dominates Redhawk Invite

The Salukis traveled to Cape Girardeau, Missouri to compete in the RedHawks Invite, hosted by Southeast Missouri State. The invite took place on Friday, September 2. 

The men’s team performed exceptionally well, finishing first in the meet. They were led by Ethan Senti, who finished with a time of 18:10 and placed second in the race. Freshman Weston Jokerst finished fourth with a time of 18:32. 

For the women’s team, senior Rachel Anderson finished 1st in the race, while her teammate Josie Brown finished second. They finished with times of 13:50 and 14:18 respectively.

The women’s team placed third out of eight teams. 

This was an impressive debut for head coach Brian Berkert, as this was his first win with the SIU program. Berkert previously coached at Tulsa, where they won the American Athletic conference championship.

SIU will not compete in its next meet until Saturday, September 17 at the John Nichols Invite. It will take place in Terre Haute, Indiana, hosted by Indianan State.
