Saluki AdLab raises funds for RSO cofounder’s memorial
The Saluki AdLab, a student group devoted to advertising and graphic design, is currently fundraising to create an on-campus memorial for Corydon Vine, an SIU alumnus and co-founder of the AdLab who tragically passed away on March 12, 2022.
Vine, who was 26 years old at the time of his passing, graduated from SIU with a degree in Radio Television and Digital Media, as well as a minor in Video Game Design. In October 2020, Vine was diagnosed with gastric cancer after a tumor was found in his stomach. This cancer is what ultimately led to his death.

According to the fundraiser page for the memorial, Vine had a great interest in Dungeons and Dragons (D&D). He started playing D&D all the way back in 3rd grade, and he eventually met his fiance Laney McCrary while playing D&D.
In addition to co-founding Saluki AdLab, Vine was also involved with the SIU chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), and spent time assisting with their National Student Advertising Competition from 2019-2020.
At the time of writing, the AdLab has raised a bit more than $2,000 in its goal to raise $25,000 for a memorial in Cory’s honor. If you’re interested in donating, you can find their fundraising page here.
