Jackson County Health Department reports four new cases of COVID-19

Jackson County Health Department reported four new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

According to SIU’s COVID-19 Dashboard, there have been two positive cases Feb. 8 through Feb 14, both of which are students and 323 tests have been administered.

As of Sunday there have been 4,613 confirmed cases in Jackson County and 68 deaths, according to the release and 4,417 individuals have been released from isolation in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Franklin and Williamson Counties reported 10 cases on Feb. 20.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health reported 1,585 confirmed cases on Sunday  and 35 additional deaths.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
