Saluki men’s basketball series against Indiana State postponed due to COVID-19 cases

The Saluki men’s basketball series against Indiana State University has been cancelled pending a reschedule date due to positive COVID-19 test results at SIU.

The positive result comes from “Southern Illinois’ Tier I personnel, which consists of student-athletes, coaches, managers and staff,” an SIU athletics press release said Friday.

The Salukis (7-3, 2-2 MVC) were set to play the Sycamores on Jan. 9 and 10 in Terre Haute, and the Missouri Valley Conference will announce a new date for the matchups.

The game cancellation follows a three-game losing skid by the Salukis, after an initial 7-0 start to the season.

SIU has had previous COVID-19 tests among their personnel on Nov. 12 and Nov. 27, including head coach Bryan Mullins testing positive as well.
