The Jackson County Circuit Clerk race displayed Cindy Svanda (D) winning 68.67% of votes with 96.4% precincts reporting. Her opponent Jessica Bradshaw (GR) came in with 31.33% of the votes.

“I want to thank the voters of Jackson County for their support.  It’s been a privilege to serve.  I want to thank my opponent for running a clean campaign,” Svanda said.

Bradshaw served as a member of the Carbondale City Council for about two full terms.

I appreciate the support my campaign received from the residents of Jackson County. I congratulate Cindy on her win and recognize her many years of experience with this position. I will continue to work hard to bring racial, social and economic justice to our community, through my service on the Carbondale City Council and other opportunities in the future,” Bradshaw said.

Svanda, the incumbent, has served as the Circuit Clerk for over 20 years. She told the Daily Egyptian that she hopes to transition to an entirely paperless courtroom.

“When I took over the running of the Circuit Clerk’s office, everything was done on a DOS green screen, typewriters and by hand in huge ledgers. There were no computers, no internet, no email, and not even a fax machine. I brought the office forward with the latest technology,” Svanda said in an October interview with the Daily Egyptian.
