COVID-19 Update: Jackson County reports eight new cases, Franklin and Williamson report 17 cases

Jackson County Health Department reported eight new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

As of Sunday, there have been 1,277 confirmed cases in Jackson County and 24 deaths, according to the release and 1,220 individuals have been released from isolation in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Franklin and Williamson counties announced 17 new COVID-19 cases and one death Tuesday.

IDPH announced  1,362  new COVID-19 cases and 23 deaths statewide on Tuesday.

SIU Carbondale reported 19 new active cases on Wednesday. These cases include five on-campus students, 12 off-campus students, and two faculty or staff.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
