“Blackout Tuesday ” was created to show the effect the Black community has on the economy. In Carbondale, Blackout Tuesday was held on July 7. at the First Christian Church. It started with march and ended with speakers; there was also a space for Black business owners to sell their products. The purpose of the event was to “inform the black community, support black unity, Black financial empowerment and continue the quest for justice and peace.”
